About Sether

We think the safest personal data is the data your AI never saw.

Sether started with a simple observation: a useful AI prompt can carry personal details the task never needed. The fix should not be "stop using AI". It should be a thin, honest layer that helps you replace sensitive details before a model call, and restore known replacements in the reply.

Sether is made by Raeven Company LTD in Abuja, Nigeria. The TypeScript and Python libraries are fully MIT licensed and free. The finished tools offer Free essentials with an optional Pro bundle for advanced workflows.

SetherThe core idea, illustrated
  1. 01Original
  2. 02Replace
  3. 03Restore

Useful context for your AI. The matching map stays on your side.

Restoration needs a recognized replacement and its retained map. Fictional example; no AI request.

What we believe

Four rules we build by.

  1. 01Your data, your infrastructure. The developer libraries and prompt processing run where you work: your process, your browser, your editor. The best breach report is the one with nothing in it.
  2. 02Prefer what you can undo.Tokens can be restored, decoys can be swapped back, and we design product decisions the same way. Reversible beats clever.
  3. 03Verify, then ship.252 tests on the npm release, every one of 224 patterns checked for ReDoS, and a single runtime dependency. "It works on my machine" is a fun fact, not a release process.
  4. 04Say what is real.Roadmap items are labelled as roadmap. We hold no certificates we have not earned. If something is not ready, this site says so.

The team

Small team. Long memory. Short prompts.

Godfrey Lebo

Founder · engineer · chief paranoia officer

Godfrey has spent more than seven years shipping production software across fintech, AI and mobile, and arrived at one firm conclusion: the safest data is the data you never sent. Sether is that conclusion, packaged for npm, PyPI, Chrome and VS Code.

The engineering rules are short. Think before you write. Verify, then act. Change only what needs changing. Prefer the decision you can roll back. And never, ever trust input from the outside world, which, to be fair, includes most of the internet.

Godfrey holds an MBA and a B.Sc in Computer Science, which mostly means being able to explain to a board why a regular expression matters. Raeven is named, on purpose, after the raven that fed Elijah: show up with what people need, and do not make a fuss about it.

Things that are true

  • Reads the code before editing it. Every single time. Yes, even that file.
  • Believes a bug deserves one correction. A second one means the process failed, so the process gets fixed.
  • Automates anything done twice, and is quietly working on automating this list.
  • Has firm opinions about em dashes. You will not find a single one on this page.
  • Will happily explain the streaming chunk-boundary bug at parties. Gets invited to fewer parties.

Open to collaborations and partnerships

Let's keep personal data out of AI, together.

We are actively looking for partners and collaborators. If any of these sound like you, send a note. A real person reads it.

  • AI products and chat platformsPut redaction in front of your model calls, or offer Shield-style protection to your own users.
  • Developer tools and frameworksIntegrations for gateways, agent frameworks, workflow tools and IDEs. We already ship for n8n and VS Code.
  • ResearchPII detection for African names, phone formats and languages, benchmarks, and safer tool-calling for agents.
  • Security and compliance firmsBring Sether to clients who need evidence that personal data stays out of AI prompts.
  • Investors and advisorsWe are building the privacy layer for AI from Abuja, for everyone. Happy to talk.
